GRENADE EXPLOSION DEATH IN KAMENICA NOT MURDER
UNMIK Police investigating the 6 January, 2002 death of a 36 year-old K-Serbian
man in Kanenica have confirmed the death was ACCIDENTAL. The incident was not
a HOMICIDE as originally suspected.
According to investigators, the victim was inside his place of business and was holding the hand grenade when the pin was separated from the device, which subsequently exploded.
The exact series of events that led to the apparently accidental removal of
the pin from the grenade cannot be known. The victim was alone at the time and
died of his injuries before help arrived.
