CUSTOMS OFFICIAL ARRESTED


UNMIK Police have arrested the Director of the Kosovo Customs Service
for alleged violations of the law.

According to Investigators, the arrest was based on a warrant issued by a Kosovo Judge. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 1300h on Friday,
17-05-02. Police officers assigned to the Pristina Warrant Division effected the
arrest, which occurred at the suspect's office and without incident.

The suspect is charged with violations of the Kosovo Criminal Code pertaining to "Fraud During The Course of Official Duties", "Abuse Of An Official Posistion, and "Plundering".

The suspect, a K-Albanian male, is being held in custody pending review and comfirmation of the charges by the Investigative Judge who will be supervising the case.
