The ITC is centrally located
within Pristina the capital of Kosovo. The Training Center
occupies the ground and first floor of the old transient hotel.
It is only few hundreds meters far from UNMIK Police HQ. |
| The Induction Training Center
operates year-round, from the sub-zero temperatures of winter,
to the scorching hot summers. |
|
|
|
ITC maintains an armory for
all officers deployed at Police HQ, as well as other non-field
units in Pristina.
UNMIK Police Officers who were not weapons proficiency tested
prior to arrival in the mission, are required to store their
weapons in the armory until their testing is complete. |
| The south wing gymnasium provides
for all-weather physical training |

As part of our Mine Awareness
Training Program, we maintain with KFOR assistance an inert
mine observation field for practical experience. |

Our BOOBYTRAP ROOM has inert
devices configured in real world scenarios Developed for us
by KFOR EOD experts, the room is the final (practical) stop
in a student's UNMIK/ITC mine awareness training. |
| All UNMIK Police Officers
are tested to assess their driving skills and abilities under
a variety of stress and non-stress courses and track conditions. |

|
Our primary range, no frills,
just the basics. However, all weapons testing begin with a
safety lecture. Our backup range, we unfortunately have only
limited access to this KFOR facility, located 20+ kilometers
from the training center. |
| Officers receive basic instruction
in map reading and land navigation |

Working together with OSCE,
the Center assists in training all incoming UNMIK Police Officers
to become competent Field Training Officers for the Kosovo
Police Service.
All Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Officers receive in-service
instruction at the center, as part of their phased field training
program for professional development |
| We have increased the number
of in-service training instructors at the Center, allowing
us to deliver a more responsive training regime to the officers
in the field, at their assigned regional centers, saving time
and money. We are currently re-evaluating all courses offered
at the center, comparing classroom hours and their content
with objective internal tests, the end result, a desire to
maximize educational content and minimize down time. |
