CONTENTS: 3 NOV. 2001 SHALA: WAITING FOR THE NEWS FROM BELGRADE
Zėri carried on page one a column by its editor-in-chief Blerim Shala, who wrote: It is hardly probable that in the post-war era the Kosovar politicians were in an inferior position than in the last few days. The other issue is, are they aware of this or not. Most likely on Friday night they were tired of campaigning, and were waiting to hear what is new in Belgrade where UNMIK Chief Administrator Hans Haekkerup was trying to convince Serb leaders that they have to call Kosovo Serbs to participate in 17 November elections. They are waiting to see on Belgrade's TV the news important for the fate of Kosovo. In this aspect the position that our political leaders have taken is identical to that of the Kosovo citizens. They fully agree with the necessity of the Serb participation in elections with the known offer by the Kosovar side that derived from the Constitutional Framework for the rights of the Serbs and other minorities that UNMIK is negotiating with Belgrade. We all together said that after the 17 November the situation in Kosovo must drastically change. Kosovo politicians with their certified elections will not only have to maximally exercise their powers that derive from the Constitutional Framework, but also will have to be fully ready to prepare political initiatives for all other issues which have to be resolved if we really want to have independence. One of these issues is the issue of Kosovo Serbs. This is our fate. We must be much more active.
Koha Ditore carried on page six a report on the AAK rallies in Dragash and Rahovec. "We know that Sharr municipality is Kosovo's poorest, therefore in our program we state that this municipality should receive more attention," said AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj. He added, "Vote straight" and his massage was "with these elections Kosovo is nearer to its independence". AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj visited Rahovec for the second time. He elaborated on the problem that Rahovec has with drinking water and asked: "Who can bring you water?" "Only the ones that work," was his ready reply. "What we have done is not little. However there is a great deal more to be done," said AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj to the citizens or Rahovec. Koha Ditore reported on page seven on PDK rally in the village Lubizhdė where the Branch president said: "PDK is fighting the personality cult. We do not think that the fate of one nation should remain on the shoulders of one man". Zėri reported on page seven that PDK Presidential candidate Dr. Flora Brovina was awarded the annual award by the Helsinki International Committee. Brovina will receive the ward on 15 November in Zagreb. Zėri reported on page five on LDK rallies in villages Zahaq and Dushkajė. LDK Deputy Chairman Kolė Berisha addressed the citizens in Zahaq. "If someone expected that today I was going to raise LDK's rating by blemishing individuals or political groups, they were mistaken". He added, "LDK does not need such votes". Professor Dr. Alush Gashi addressed the citizens of Dushkajė. "I have
to tell you that we are the ones that will get things
right". |
