UNMIK re-assumes control over Germia Building in Gracanica

Pristina - This morning UNMIK re-assumed control over the socially owned Germia Building in Gracanica. The action was authorized by the SRSG pursuant to his executive power under Security Council Resolution 1244.

On Friday 3 August, an Office of the FRY Committee on Kosovo was inaugurated by the Head of the Committee, Momcilo Trajkovic, without any prior consultation with UNMIK. It has repeatedly been made clear to the Committee that the opening of the FRY office in Kosovo must be authorised by UNMIK.

On Sunday 5 August, the FRY authorities received a request from UNMIK to take immediate action to close the Office and restore the Germia building to its former status. The request was not followed.
