SRSG briefs IAC about his Meeting with Covic

PRISTINA - SRSG Hans Haekkerup today briefed members of the Interim Administrative Council (IAC) about his meeting with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa Covic last Friday 24 August.

The SRSG said he had constructive talks with Mr. Covic and he briefed on the issues as previously reported in the Press Release that was issued after the meeting.
 
On the recent events in the Prizren municipality, as Mr. Haekkerup told journalists after the meeting, "The IAC agreed that the decision of the municipal assembly was within its powers. It was a fully legitimate decision and there was no reason for the SRSG or IAC to step in."

The IAC was also briefed about the three draft regulations designed to address the problem of organized crime. These regulations were: a draft regulation on Measures Against Organized Crime, a draft regulation on Protection of Injured Parties and Witnesses and a draft regulation on Cooperative Witnesses. The IAC members will review these three regulations and give their responses at a future meeting.
