SRSG and COMKFOR Meet Covic 

PRISTINA -- SRSG Hans Haekkerup and COMKFOR Lt. Gen. Thorstein Skiaker met the President of the Joint Coordinating Committee, Serb Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa
Covic, in Pristina today. This was the fourth in a series of meetings which began on 15 August.

SRSG and COMKFOR welcomed the recent progress with regard to registration of Kosovo Serb voters and encouraged Kosovo Serbs to continue to register before 22 September. SRSG and COMKFOR urgently called upon Serb parties and coalitions to register for certification before the final deadline of 17 September and asked Dr. Covic to transmit this message to all concerned.

SRSG, COMKFOR and Dr. Covic continued their dialogue on Mitrovica and
Northern Kosovo.

Other important issues discussed were Serb participation in local structures as well as detainees and missing persons.

Following the meeting in Pristina, Dr. Covic continued his tour of Serbian enclaves with visits to two separate locations.
