Victims’ clothing and personal effects to be exhibited at the Rahovec/Orahovac Mortuary


The Office on Missing Persons and Forensics (OMPF), with the assistance of the Missing Persons Unit of UNMIK Police, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) and the International Commission of Missing Persons (ICMP), will organize between Friday 13 and Sunday 15 December 2002 an exhibition of clothes and personal effects of 75 victims recovered from the cemeteries of North Mitrovica (Albanian cemetery), Vidomeric and Suvi do.

According to available information, the human remains may belong to missing persons from the municipalities of Mitrovice/Mitrovica, Vushtrri/Vucitrn and Skenderaj/Srbica as well as those from the massacre at Izbice. People from those municipalities are invited to the exhibition.

The exhibition will take place at the Rahovec/Orahovac mortuary and families will be transported by bus from 3 Municipalities. The exhibition will be open from: 10.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs.

In separate rooms of the exhibition, UNMIK CIVPOL Missing Persons Identification officers and pathologists will take blood samples and be available to give psychological support and first aid to the families.

JOSE PABLO BARAYBAR, HEAD OF OFFICE OF MISSING PERSONS AND FORENSICS WILL HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE RAHOVEC/ORAHOVAC MORGUE ON FRIDAY 13 DECEMBER AT 12.00, AFTERWORDS HE WILL GIVE A SHORT TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION TO THE JOURNALISTS AND WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEWS UNTIL 13.30.
