EFC holds final meeting on 2003 budget

PRISTINA – PDSRSG Charles Brayshaw today chaired this years final meeting of the Economic and Fiscal Council on the 2003 budget and the ‘budget appropriation regulation for 2003’. Prior to the main agenda the Council noted comments by DSRSG Andy Bearpark and Minister of Finance and Economy Ali Sadriu on the merging of the CFA and the MFE by the end of the year as well as on operational issues of the EFC secretariat.

In a “fruitful and very useful meeting” the EFC made considerable progress in the drafting of the ‘budget appropriation regulation for 2003’. The appropriation schedules were reviewed and clarification on details was given, some technicalities remain to be clarified before the end of the year. “The regulation will be issued under the authority of the SRSG in accordance with the constitutional framework”, PDSRSG Charles Brayshaw stated to the Council.

The representative of the Assembly Presidency and Chairman of the Budget Committee Mr Haki Shatri appreciated the announcement by the Minister of Finance to present the budget of the Provisional Government to the Assembly. This marks the first time that a budget would be presented to the Parliamentary Assembly in Kosovo.

The PDSRSG congratulated everyone on the Council for the hard work and the exceptional efforts they had shown during this year.
