DSRSG Cady and DCOMKFOR General de Kemabon visit scene of Gorazdevac shooting and KFOR Hospital in Mitrovica

PRISTINA – On 13 August 2003, DSRSG/Police & Justice Jean-Christian Cady and DCOMKFOR General Yves de Kemabon visited the scene of the shooting near Zahac village in Gorazdevac area where a group of Kosovo Serbian teenagers were attacked by unknown perpetrator(s) killing two and injuring four persons. An on the spot review of the incident and follow-up police operations was conducted along with the Police Commissioner Stefan Feller and other officers of UNMIK Police and KFOR.

Addressing the media at the scene of the crime, Mr Cady stated, “killing defenceless children playing on the river side is worse than terrorism, it is an act of barbarism.”

The DSRSG further stated: “This is an attack on humanity. By killing children, you are killing the future of Kosovo. The United Nations and the entire international community condemn this. The police are already on the job and no efforts will be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice. We will increase the security for Serbs in Kosovo.”

Later, the DSRSG and DCOMKFOR visited the French KFOR hospital in Mitrovica to arrange for the evacuation of a critically wounded victim to Belgrade. The victim had earlier been air lifted to KFOR hospital in Mitrovica from where, after initial treatment, he was transported to a hospital in Belgrade on the night of 13 August.
