SRSG Holkeri Meets German Foreign Minister Fischer

PRISTINA - SRSG Harri Holkeri and the German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer agreed today that the launch of the direct dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade on technical matters of mutual interest is of immediate priority.

Mr. Holkeri and Mr. Fischer, who met in Berlin today, said there was no alternative to standards before status. During the meeting they also discussed the issue of returns, minority rights and economic development.

Both Mr. Holkeri and Mr. Fischer felt that the security situation in Kosovo remains a matter of grave concern.

Emphasising the significance of the dialogue, SRSG Holkeri said “time is crucial and it is very important to start the dialogue.” He thanked Mr. Fischer for Germany’s continued engagement with and commitment to Kosovo.
