SRSG Kouchner Signs Regulation on Exercising Control over Payments Facilities and Services

Pristina - Bernard Kouchner, Special Representative of the Secretary General, has signed a regulation giving UNMIK the authority to utilize and administer the facilities of the Public Payment Service to collect and disburse public funds.

The SRSG will appoint a Supervisory Board for Payment Operations to oversee the Public Payment Service in Kosovo.

Under the control and supervision of the Board, the Public Payment Service  will collect and pay out funds to or on behalf of public institutions. Such public funds include public sector salaries and pensions.

The Supervisory Board will appoint a general manager to supervise the staff of the Public Payment Service in Kosovo.

The staff of the Public Payment Service will reflect the multi-ethnic character of all communities in Kosovo, and will be responsible to the Supervisory Board.
