SRSG Kouchner Signs Regulation on Temporary Vehicle Registration
Pristina - Bernard Kouchner, Special Representative of the Secretary General, has signed a regulation allowing for the temporary registration of all vehicles in Kosovo.
All natural and legal persons in Kosovo shall be required to obtain temporary registration of vehicles in their possession. They will also have to apply for the issue of a temporary Kosovo license plate. In order to obtain registration, written proof of third party liability insurance will be required as well.
The issuance by UNMIK of temporary registration papers and temporary license plates shall not constitute evidence of title or evidence of the identity of the owner. Titles to vehicles will be determined in accordance with procedures to be established in due course.
Temporary registration and license plates shall be valid until procedures for permanent registration and the issuance of permanent license plates are in place.
The registration of vehicles will begin on 30 November in Pristina at a location still to be announced. Additional vehicle registration offices will be opened in the regions.
