You must have been surprised with this actor if you were watching RTK on last Sunday evening. In that episode of the popular weekly soap opera “Familja Modena” the special guest was the Head of UNMIK, Soren Jessen Petersen.

When the producers of this show were in search of an international to play a role for an episode, someone suggested SRSG Jessen-Petersen.

Director Fatos Berisha admits that they didn’t believe that Petersen would accept the invitation.

Actuality: We were surprised and we were very glad because he accepted our invitation. We were not sure if he is going to come. He has the role of a man who asks for the father’s permition for Zana to marry me.

For this episode, which parodies real life in Kosovo, Jessen-Petersen, as SRSG, acts as marriage broker for the character John, played by the show’s director, Fatos Berisha. John is an Irishman in love with the daughter of the Gashi family. The family has finally agreed to their marriage.

Respecting true-to-life Albanian customs, the SRSG as a representative for John, must ask for the daughter’s hand in marriage by appealing to the elder Gashi, whose delayed recognition of the SRSG illustrates the mock nature of the program.

Of course on the set the scene had to be rehearsed and repeated a couple of times, but Jessen Petersen says he enjoyed the play.

Actuality: Above all it’s fun and I’m very happy that I could be a part of it. I know that this is probably the most popular serials so one day when I write a book there certainly will be a chapter on this experience that is quite unusual.

The weekly series “Familja Modena” is one of the most popular TV shows in Kosovo. We are the first to last this long on Kosovo’s TV, says director Fatos Berisha.

Actuality: TV series “Familja Modena” is being broadcasted for 3 years. At the end of this season we’ll broadcast the 100^th episode. That is the record of Kosovo’s television. We are happy that we last for this long and I do hope it will be like that in the future.

Politicians making appearances in entertainment shows is not unusual these days. Recently at the Eurovision song contest in Kiev the special guest, was Ukrainian president Viktor Jushchenko
