August 31 2004 -Artists
Demand a Copyright Law-By Valon A. Syla
While strolling the streets of Prishtina,
one can notice everywhere a large number of street-posts
with youngsters selling different sorts of CD's ranging
from movies, software, but especially music from all
over the world and local. Any of these CD's is sold
to the public for only 2 and a half Euros, a quiet
and attractive price, compared to the 20 Euros one
would have to pay for the same CD any where in the
world. And even cheaper when you consider you're not
paying any taxes or author's copyrights for it.

-How to Facilitate the Returns- By Zoran Culafic
The process of returns for internally
displaced people, or IDP's is one of the top priorities
for UNMIK and the Kosovo Government. It remains among
the most important aspects of the Standards for Kosovo.
At the same time, it is an issue that raises most
of the political disputes between Belgrade and Pristina.
On the eve of upcoming parliamentary elections in
Kosovo much is riding on how this issue of returns
is handled by UNMIK's new head, SRSG Soren Jessen-Peterson.

August 27 2004 -Participation
of the Majority in 2004 elections-By Gezim
Kasapolli
October Parliamentary elections are
the fourth elections to be held in Kosovo in the past
five years. Political analysts say this election is
a major test for Kosovo's Albanian majority who are
faced with mounting pressure to fulfill the 8 Standards
that Kosovo towards a more Western European model.
But, have the elected institutions done enough to
warrant the votes they gained during the previous
election cycle? And, will the majority Albanian electorate
actually participate?

August 20 2004 -Fish
farm- By Gezim Kasapolli
The process of privatization is essential
in Kosovo and economists working here assert - it
is the only way for many socially owned enterprises
to revive and start production process that have been
stalled for some time now. Companies privatized during
the first and second round of Kosovo's current privatization
processes are still struggling to get on their feet
and manage their way through a new market economy
in Kosovo. But one fish farm in Western Kosovo is
testing the possibilities of success.

-Other Minorities and Elections-By Andrea Saula
For most political analysts - Kosovo's
Problems are inevitably seen through the lenses of
the two dominant ethnic groups - Albanians, that comprise
some 88% of the population and Serbs, who make up
approximately 7% of the population [UNDP estimates].
Indeed, much of the political discussion surrounding
the October elections for Kosovo's Provisional Legislature
is focused on Serb participation in the ballot process.
