On the 17th of March 2004, teachers
led their students onto the bridge connecting north
and south Mitrovicë/Mitrovica in a protest against
the deaths of three Kosovo Albanian children who were,
according to Pristina media, chased into the Ibar
River by Kosovo Serbs with a dog. Three hours later,
six persons had been killed and houses throughout
Kosovo were in flames

Refugees-By Andrea Saula
Nearly 2500 Roma refugees from Kosovo,
who fled in 1999 to Macedonia, have been abandoned-
left without any Governmental or International aid
or attention. The Ombudsperson of Kosovo recently
wrote a letter to Macedonian authorities pledging
to find some solution for these Kosovans.

have gathered together in Klina to produce compost,
which for the last 5 years has been imported from
abroad. With the help from the Swiss Government, farmers
in the region hope the boost in domestic compost production
will prompt more Kosovans to plant on their land.

The UNMIK administration in Kosovo
is continuing the process of handing over competencies
to Kosovans. One of the examples is Kosovo Correction
Service….A second generation of officers with the
Kosovo Correction Service just graduated adding 11
more Kosovan officers to the corps who will now assume
roles as Deputy Directors in Kosovo's prisons and
detention centers.

The Organization of Young Artists,
a Kosovo- based NGO held a multi-ethnic art exhibition
entitled "Art Without Borders".
Young artists were invited from Kosovo, Albania, and
Macedonia to display a range of their artwork from
paintings to video art, and installation pieces. The
exhibition was held for one day in Pristina with the
hopes of being invited to other countries in the future.

natural resources in the region. Throughout history
the forest has been used and treated in different
