28 September 2004-Macedonian
Referndum-By Andrea Saula
Macedonian opposition to the decentralization
process in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
have succeeded in forcing a national referendum to
stop the implementation of the crucial law. The Referendum
is expected to fail, but if it succeeds, analysts
say it will delay decentralization and possibly reignite
political and inter-ethnic turmoil queled after the
Ohrid peace agreement in 2001.
