Herzegovina, to intensify cooperation with and render all necessary assistance to the
ICTY, particularly to bring Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, as well as Ante
Gotovina and all other indictees to the ICTY and calls on these and all other at-large
indictees of the ICTY to surrender to the ICTY.

Strongly condemns extremist violence, including terrorist activities, in parts of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and certain municipalities in southern Serbia. Underlines the need for all differences to be resolved by dialogue among all legitimate parties. Decides to monitor developments on the ground carefully and remain actively seized of the matter.

Security Council resolution 1244 (1999) [on the deployment of international civil and security presences in Kosovo]

Requests the Secretary-General to appoint a Special Representative to control the implementation of the international civil presence and authorizes Member States and relevant international organizations to establish the international security presence in Kosovo. Outlines the responsibilities of both presences. Also transmits principles towards a resolution of the Kosovo crisis, adopted by the G-8 Foreign Ministers, Petersberg Centre, 6 May 1999.

Security Council resolution 1239 (1999) [on relief assistance to Kosovo refugees and internally displaced persons in Kosovo, the Republic of Montenegro and other parts of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia]

Urges UNHCR and other international humanitarian relief organizations and others to contribute resources for humanitarian assistance to the refugees and internally displaced persons. Emphasizes that the humanitarian situation will continue to deteriorate in the absence of a political solution to the crisis consistent with the principles adopted by the Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States on 6 May 1999 (S/1999/516), and urges all concerned to work towards this aim.

Security Council resolution 1207 (1998) [on the failure of Yugoslavia to execute arrest warrants issued by the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia]

Condemns the failure of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to execute the arrest warrants issued by the Tribunal against the 3 individuals referred to in the letter of 8 Sept. 1998, and demands the immediate and unconditional execution of those arrest warrants, including the transfer to the custody of the Tribunal of those individuals.

Demands the full and prompt implementation of the agreements concerning the verification of compliance by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and all others concerned in Kosovo with the requirements of resolution 1199 (1998). Also demands immediate action from the authorities of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Kosovo Albanian leadership to cooperate with international efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and avert the impending catastrophe.

Demands that all parties, groups and individuals immediately cease hostilities and maintain a ceasefire in Kosovo. Demands further that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, in addition to the measures called for under resolution 1160 (1998), implement immediately the measures towards achieving a political solution to the situation in Kosovo as contained in the Contact Group statement of 12 June 1998. Requests the Secretary-General to provide regular reports to the Council as necessary on his assessment of compliance with this resolution.

Security Council resolution 1160 (1998) [on the imposition of an arms embargo against Yugoslavia]

Decides that all States shall, for the purposes of fostering peace and stability in Kosovo, prevent the sale or supply to Yugoslavia, including Kosovo, of arms and related material of all types and shall prevent arming and training for terrorist activities there. Also decides to establish a committee of the Security Council to seek information from all States regarding the action taken by them concerning the effective implementation of the prohibitions imposed by this resolution and to report on its work to the Council. Decides to review the situation on the basis of the reports of the Secretary-General, which will take into account the assessments of, inter alia, the Contact Group, OSCE and the European Union.

Calls upon the authorities in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to reconsider their refusal to allow the continuation of the activities of Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) missions in Kosovo, Sandjak and Vojvodina, to cooperate with CSCE by taking the steps needed for the resumption of the activities of these missions and to agree to an increase in the number of monitors as decided by CSCE.
